Less Thank a Week
Well there is less than a week to go to my first lesson - known as the Trial Introductory Flight or TIF.To say I am excited would be an understatement, however before I get ahead of myself I will tell you all the reading and studying I have done to date, and also all the procedural stuff such as medicals and licences that I have obtained. The first thing I did when I was serious about getting my licence was to complete an application form for a Students Pilot Licence (SPL) and an aviation identification check which goes off to the Federal Police and ASIO.I filled the necessary forms out down at Moorabbin Flying Services (MFS), which is the training organisation I have chosen, and the Chief Flying Instructor (CFI) checks that you can speak English to a suitable level and then sends the forms off signed to CASA.The next step was the medical - in my case I elected to do a Class 2 medical which is basically just a check up, sight check, etc. The doctor (or DAME as they are known) sends the results to CASA online and then CASA review and issue your certificate. Mine took about two weeks to get back. After about 5 weeks I also received my AVID and SPL from CASA - that was about a week ago now.So anyway, moving on to the books - a couple of months ago I bought two books - Basical Aeronautical Knowledge and Flight Radio for VFR Pilots - both by Aviation Theory Centre (BAK is written by Trevor Thom). A month later I picked up The Flying Training Manual which is a bit if a rehash of the BAK, however it also covers the practical side of the flying lessons too.So I have been reading these intently and reviewing the questions in them and have a pretty good understanding of how planes fly, navigation, meteorology, etc, etc.....Anyway, enough of that - off to develop some more of this site and add some more info for other budding pilots to be.........

Found it: Found this one just before lunch, with the kids getting hungry and impatient. Managed to drive to GZ despite the gate being shut - there's quite a road around the left side and being a public holiday figured no one would mind too much! T: Soccer Ball keyring L: Mini Glow Sticks TFTC SL
